My last update was on 4/24

Remember, there is a no late work policy in 7th grade block.  Please encourage your student to keep track of their assignments and due dates!  I now accept late work only if accompanied by a homework pass signed by a parent or if completed during Study Club (M, T, Th 2:20 - 3:20 and T, Th 7:00 - 7:45).

We have been working on using our student agendas.  Please ask to see your student's agenda each night and encourage them to keep it up to date.  I am happy to initial agendas at the end of class to verify their accuracy.  You can attach privileges or lack thereof, for obtaining their teachers' initials each day.

Outside Reading

We have started our unit on Canada.

Students have been issued the workbook, Canada, Northern Neighbor.  Every student has signed a form stating that if they loose their book, they will be charged $5 to replace it.

Canada "book" maps on pages 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b & 3c are due Monday, 4/27.

We have started the CBA along with the Literature Circles.  Students are expected to keep up with their novels and research.  More info to follow.

Wordly Wise Lesson 15

  • Pre-test 4/27
  • Packet, final test and story extra credit due 5/1

Reading Logs are due each Monday for 50 points with an opportunity to earn 20 points extra credit.  If students don't have the form, they can just make one on their own on a piece of paper.  All I need is the title of the book, starting and ending pages, a summary and reading response.

350 pages are due 5/11

750 pages due end of fourth quarter - 6/15

Here is a copy of our book reports.  They can be handed in at any time, up until 4/8.

The next journal check will be on Friday, 5/01.

We have now started memoirs.

  • Students have been given worksheets to help them generate ideas to write about.
  • This weekend students should look through old photos, old toys, etc to help them come up with ideas to write about.
  • Brainstormed list is due Monday, 4/27.

To check your student's grade, go to the Monroe School District Family Access page and follow the directions.
