Number Club

The Number Club is a very popular activity in First Grade.  Each student has their own "Number Club Book."  During Free time students may practice their counting and number writing skills by working in their book.  Students start at 1 and continue counting on from there.  Every time a student finishes a set of 100 numbers the Number Club Book is turned in and checked by me.  If it is completed correctly, without any reversals, the Number Club Book receives a stamp and the student then gets to sign a Number Club banner at 100, 500 and 1,000 milestones.  My only requirement is that the student reaches the 100 club by the end of First Grade, as this is a district requirement.  The students love this free time activity once the pattern of number writing has been discovered.  Most students reach the 500 club and there's always a handful that are way past 1,000!
