Helpful Hints for Parents
Welcome to First Grade!
Here are some helpful hints to make a great start to the year!
School begins at 8:15. The tardy bell rings at 8:20.
If your child is riding a different bus home, please send a note stating this signed by the parent or guardian.
Please send any lunch money in an envelope with your child's name on the front. Your child can bring this to Mrs. Melcher, in the gym, before school begins.
Please label all supplies, coats and mittens with your child's name.
Encourage your child to talk about his/her day and take time to look at your child's work. 
Allow time for your child to adjust to school routines. First grade is tough, especially in the beginning of the year. The students are often very tired and take time to adjust to the full day of school. (Especially if it is still warm outside!)
Every Friday I will send home a classroom newsletter. Please watch for these as they will have helpful information and reminders for the following week.
We have P.E. on Tuesday and Friday. Please be sure your child is dressed for fun and play and is wearing shoes he/she can easily run in.
On Mondays we will be visiting our school library. Please encourage your child to return his/her book on time. Our Classroom visits Mr. Brant in the music room on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
